I am a Girl Raised In The South. Growing up, I loved to fish in our backyard or the Pensacola Bridge. I don’t really get to go fishing these days, but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
My love for Accounting started in the 4th grade when I began failing math. Wait, failing made me love it?? Well, it turned out that I needed glasses! Once I got those extra eyes, I could “clearly see” how much fun math really was!
In high school, I got approval from the principal to use a class period in order to assist the school’s Bookkeeper, even though I wouldn’t get credits for it. I did that for 3 years. Yes, I loved Bookkeeping THAT much, that I was willing to forgo credited classes and graduating early just so I could continue getting that experience.
My first (paid) job in the financial world was as a bank teller at the age of 19. Since then, I’ve done bookkeeping for a school system, worked at a CPA firm where I did personal & corporate tax prep, and bookkeeping for small business owners, and other facets of Accounting at large corporations. Numbers make me happy!
